Markets Gained on Covid Vaccine Optimism

Covid-19 vaccine hopes led investors to move into the market. One possible star in the markets is Palantir (PLTR) that gained 8.4% from Thursday's close. German biotechnology firm BioNTech and American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer announced in a press release on Monday that their COVID vaccine is 90 percent effective in preventing COVID-19. Disney was up today after it reported last night. One analyst, Kutgun Mural, set $170 as Disney's target raising it to outperform from sector perform.

The Dow added about 400 points, or 1.4%, and posted a weekly advance of more than 4%. The S&P 500 jumped 1.4% on Friday to a record closing high of 3,585.18, topping its previous record closing level from early September by about 5 points. The index rose about 2.2% on the week. The Nasdaq also eked out a weekly advance of just under 1%, as the tech-heavy index more than made up its losses from earlier this week.
