Natural Disasters Hitting Insurance Companies

We had Harvey hit Texas and Louisiana. Now we have Irma heading towards Florida. Two industries effected by mother nature include insurance companies, namely property firms in the effected states and oil and gas producers and refiners. You can see from the image here (it is a 20 day 2 hour chart of Travelers (NYSE: TRV)) showing the dramatic slide in the stock as a direct effect of Harvey and Irma. The markets are dealing with seasonal volatility

, geopolitical troubles and mother nature.

We have not been fast at pulling the trigger on any alerts in that last week because of this triple threat. It is a good thing we have not because markets have generally been whipsawing up and down. We expect the early to the middle of next week we will have identified one to two exceptional trades.
